ASUS has introduced a tablet Eee Slate B121, positioned as a device for business and health workers. The device is equipped with 12.1 “multi-touch display with LED backlight and a resolution of 1280×800 pixels (WXGA), protected from damage heavy-duty glass Gorilla Glass, based on the processor Intel Core i5-470UM and is running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).
The B121 features a 12.1-inch 1280×800 multitouch display covered by Gorilla Glass with 178 degree wide viewing angles and works with a Wacom Digitizer stylus. Inside it runs on Intel’s Core i5-479UM processor with 4GB of RAM along and a 64GB SSD. It has a front-facing 2-megapixel camera for video conferencing, two full USB 2.0 ports, a mini-HDMI port, and a built-in memory card reader. It’s also bundled with a Bluetooth keyboard.
To make sure your precious data is secured, the B121 will offer different layers of security, with the Computrace LoJack-ready (that needs a subscription) being able to remotely delete data if you happen to lose your notebook, while a dedicated Theft Recovery Team will co-operate with local law enforcement to track and recover it. There is also the trusted platform module (TPM) where Windows BitLocker will work with, helping protect the operating system and user data.
Priced at $1,499 the ASUS Eee Slate B121 is quite expensive but seeing how it runs Windows 7 it’s not really a surprise considering it’s basically a full fledged laptop stuffed into a tablet form factor. No word on a release date just yet but we’ll certainly keep you posted.
In addition, the Asus B121 will ship with a 64GB SSD, 4GB RAM, a Bluetooth keyboard, a Wacom Digitizer stylus, a front-facing 2-megapixel camera, and a battery which is touted to run for 4.5 hours.
