Apple iPad 3 Release Date Delayed– Although the competitors start to get up to speed with new products based on Google Android 3.x “Honeycomb” Apple continues to dominate the market for tablets. In the second quarter, Apple sold 9.3 million units, an increase of 183 percent over the same periods of 2010. Now Digitimes reports industry magazine that the next version of the iPad is delayed. Previous data have pointed towards that Apple plans to launch the Apple iPad 3 towards the end of the year, but now it looks like the sequel is delayed until 2012.
Apple was originally set to launch Apple iPad 3 in the second half of 2011 with a supply volume of 1.5-2 million units in the third quarter and 5-6 million in the fourth quarter, but Apple’s supply chain partners have recently discovered that the related figures have already all been deleted. Therefore some rumors out there and such a polemic of it.
The reason for the delay is said to be a lack of high-resolution panels at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Neither Samsung or LG have the capacity to deliver sufficient volumes, and the third operator Sharp stuck with high costs. Another problem is that the new panels will require more powerful backlight which impairs the battery life and makes it difficult for Apple to maintain a slim design.
Quoted from Cnet, Alexander concludes that the Apple iPad 3 will not appear before the first quarter of 2012 due to the set “higher power drives a series of challenges … the panel yields are likely to be significantly lower than that of the iPad 2 control panel. It makes no sense for Apple to restrict supply product in its heaviest demand quarter (third quarter) to introduce the year, “said Alexander. A 9.7-inch tablet display with 2,048 x1, 536 resolution “has been in development for some time,” Rhoda Alexander, an analyst at IHS iSuppli, said in response to an e-mail request. Alexander said iSuppli has its projections on a 2012 introduction of an Apple iPad 3 built with this kind of very high resolution display.
