Asustek prepares to launch its Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet


The long-awaited Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system was finally launched in the global market. With this, Asustek has also announced to offer its new Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet which will no doubt attract millions of people.
This new tablet is set to launch by the end of 2011 as said by Jonney Shih, the chairman of Asustek Computer Inc. This new tablet will provide high performance and will even challenge the competitors like Acer Inc. and Lenovo Group Ltd. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see how this new tablet goes with the already existing devices launched by market players – Amazon.com Inc. (Kindle Fire) and Apple Inc. (iPad). No wonder, the Asustek’s Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet will face a stiff competition with these high-tech devices.

This new tablet represents the next generation Transformer tablet of the company which comes with a separable keyboard. This tablet will be launched next month as said by Jonney Shih. This new device that dwell on the Ice Cream Sandwich platform will be equipped with Android 4.0 and will also add some more app widgets, making it more interesting for the users. Moreover, user can easily access the features of this new device such as easy creation of folders and switching between the applications. Jonney Shih has also said that this new device will feature NVIDIA Corporation’s quad-core chips.
s of this year, Asustek is maintaining to target the shipping of its 2-million Transformer tablets this year. The Transformer tablets run on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. However, there are possibilities that the Apple may put a ban on Asustek through patent litigation if the company tries to push its tablet space across the globe. Considering the price, Asustek can launch this tablet at lower price if the more effective and cheaper range CPU from ARM Holdings PLC launches in the market. This will also increase the demand of this new device.
