eye-catching Series 9 Notebook NP900X1A

Posted: 27 May 2011 08:05 AM PDT

It's been said that good design tells a story. The Samsung Series 9 Notebook possesses a design like no other and tells a story inspired by the beauty of natural elements and the strength of manmade structures. Its elegant lines and premium finish are eye-catching, but it's the arching side curve that makes a statement. Born from a piece of folded paper, this simple curve reflects the natural flowing streams and architectural arches that influenced its innovative design.

Rolls with the Punches

Don't let its sleek design fool you. The Series 9 Notebook is strong on the inside and the outside. It utilizes the lightweight yet strong material Duralumin to create a slim and aerodynamic design.

In fact, it's currently the only laptop to be made of Duralumin, a premium material developed for advanced aircrafts and other highly specialized equipment. That means it's about twice as strong as aluminum, but weighs no more—the perfect solution. And not only does Duralumin give your data an extra layer of security, it's also responsible for its superior finish. It's perfection you can feel.

Light Enough to Move with You

This slim, streamlined notebook not only travels light, it looks like it travels light due to its aerodynamic design. The Series 9 is a lean, mean machine that weighs less than three pounds and measures just 0.64 inches thick, or about as thin as the average magazine, making it portable enough to carry with you everywhere you go.

Design Is in the Details

For the Series 9, great attention was paid to the details in order to achieve an overall look that is both simple and sophisticated. The exterior is clean and uncluttered, confident, and focused, and this is reflected in every aspect of its features:

  • Brilliant LCD Display Design Creates Visual Impact: The bright, high-performance display calls no attention to itself—it is instead seamlessly integrated to the form.
  • Multi-touch Clickpad Provides Sophisticated and Intuitive Navigation: Featuring a new glass coating and image sensor, the button-less multi-touch clickpad is stylish and convenient. You can enjoy enhanced multi-touch awareness and better palm rejection, which means no more cursors disappearing or jumping out of place.
  • Backlit Keyboard Illuminates Your Workspace: The backlit keyboard is always easy to see regardless of the time of day or environment. A 3D image sensor accurately interprets simple finger movements such as pinch, swipe and rotate, so you can easily interact with your documents, images and applications.

As Stylish and Mobile as You

Today's technology is as much a fashion accessory in some circles as it is a functional necessity, so you need a notebook that not only does the job but looks good, too. From its subtle curves to its lightweight design, the Series 9 looks as good as it performs, whether you're running around town or flying out of it.

Samsung Galaxy S 4G Review

★★★★★
There's no such thing as the perfect phone. Just like computers a few years ago, it seems like as soon as you walk out of the store with a new phone, there's something even newer, even better, and for less that just came out.

★★★★☆
Backing up the iPhone's contacts either requires you to plug the handset into your computer or purchase Apple's MobileMe service. Sure, you could sync everything with Gmail, but in our experience that hardly works perfectly.

HTC Thunderbolt Review

★★★½☆
One thing about HTC is that they build thick phones. This is a purely aesthetic deduction. Some people want a heavy handset while others always want smaller, thinner and lighter.

Samsung's entire line of active shutter glasses gets a price cut, more money for your popcorn

Following its pledge to make 3D TV experience more affordable, Samsung's just announced a price drop on the rest of its active shutter glasses lineup. As you probably already know, the entry-level SSG-3100GB went from $129.99 down to just $49.99 last month; and now we have the better-looking SSG-3300CR plus SSG-3300GR reduced by $50 down to $129.99, along with the swanky SSG-3700CR (pictured above) getting a $70 discount to just $149.99. Of course, these premium spectacles are still far from affordable compared to their passive counterparts, so it'll be interesting to see if Samsung's attempt to lure more 3D viewers will work at all. Ultimately though, we'd love to see other manufacturers follow suit -- bring on the 3D price war!

LG Optimus 2X scoops up Guinness World Record for being first dual-core smartphone

LG's Optimus 2X just scooped up official recognition from the Guinness World Records crew for being the very first dual-core smartphone, which sounds like a good thing, but really it kind of isn't. In its rabid pursuit of the "First!" badge, LG neglected to polish up the 2X's software, leaving a lot of early users feeling high, dry, and in need of a good custom ROM. On the other hand, that very same phone's US variant, the T-Mobile G2x that came a couple of months later, arrived with a nice and shiny stock Android build that really showed off the underlying hardware's true capabilities. So yeah, kudos on another Record, LG, but next time let's have less haste and more awesome, mmkay?

how to see through walls

We all know that light can't exactly pass through solid objects -- unless of course, you're using a laser or something. Yes, X-rays allow us to look into suitcases at the airport and broken bones in our bodies, but there's a new kid on the block that claims to have done the impossible in a novel fashion. Jochen Aulbach and his colleagues of the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics out in Amsterdam have developed a technology that allows scrambled light to remain focused as it passes through ultra-thin layers of paint. You see, when light is sent through opaque material, it becomes muddled and lost in the space-time continuum. Aulbach and his crew used a spatial light modulator, or SMT, to control a 64-femtosecond long laser pulse that's passed through a thin layer of paint. The SMT emits pulses that last long enough for only a machine to see and the data is sent to a computer for calibration. NewScientist claims that with this technology, it might be possible to hone in on cancerous cells and blast them to oblivion without damaging the healthy tissue surrounding them.

We've been teasing you with images of this see-through beauty since Sony announced plans to bring its translucent mirror to the A77. Unfortunately, we've still yet to get our dirty paws on its hard shell, but we're happy to live vicariously through Pocket-lint's hands-on of Sony's clear-bodied Alpha camera. According to its post, the concept DSLR is based on a heretofore unidentified mid-range camera that touts an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and "fast continuous autofocus." The camera is slated for a late 2011 release, but chances are it won't come with that sweet transparent body. So soak it up while you can, because this could be the last you see of the crystalline casing -- hit the source link for even more eye candy.

It's hard to believe that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Apple man Steve Jobs would get all giggly over a Granny Smith, and that's for good reason: that apple's about as phony as this tiny iPhone. According to a Russian security firm, however, Nikon's Image Authentication Software would tell you otherwise. This rendering is one of a handful used to demonstrate a flaw in the camera maker's image verification system. Programs like Nikon's apply an encrypted signature to image files at the time they are captured, and overwrite those signatures when a file is altered, allowing for verification of a photograph's integrity. According to ElcomSoft, the firm exposed a flaw in the system used by Nikon, as well as a similar program employed by Canon's DSLRs, that allowed them to extract the signature key from a camera and apply it to phonies like the one above. According to the outfit, neither company has responded to its findings. For more funny fakes, including a shot of Mike Tyson rocking an Angry Birds tattoo, check out the source link below.

Casio Tryx EX-TR100 full review

Given the sheer quantity of marketing muscle that Casio put behind the Tryx, you'd think the company was gearing up to rival Nikon and Canon in the DSLR space. Instead, out popped the outre device you see above. Without qualification, this is one of the strangest, most bizarrely designed cameras we've ever seen, featuring a pop-out display and a grand total of two buttons for operation. At 4.8- x 2.3- x 0.6-inches, it's certainly one of the slimmest, easy-to-carry point-and-shoots on the market, but is the absence of an optical zoom and a removable battery enough to tank an otherwise radical idea? Head on past the break for our two pennies.

Bluetooth speaker

Creative's family of Bluetooth speakers got a few more additions today. The company unveiled the wireless one-piece D80, which for most intents and purposes, is identical to its colorful sibling the D100, save for a lower price tag at $50 and a loss of battery power. The $300 ZiiSound D5x, meanwhile, looks an awful lot like 2010's D5, though this one plays nice with the newly announced D3x modular speaker and DSx modular subwoofer, both of which are priced at $150 a pop. The D80 is hitting this month and the ZiiSound's various components will be arriving this summer, so don't throw out last year's models just yet. Press info after the break.

Daihatsu - UFE2 Concept - ai Concept

Concept vehicles or show vehicles are prototypes made to showcase a concept, new styling and new technology. They are often shown at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not have a chance of being produced.
Concept cars never go into production directly; in modern times all would have to undergo many changes before the design is finalized for the sake of practicality, safety and cost. Here are the latest concept vehicles from Daihatsu!
