HTC Sensation vs iPhone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S II

VS
Would Android operating system be so popular if not HTC smartphones? Perhaps would not. HTC Desire was one of the first models that were running Android. HTC Desire with great design was in the top of the ratings of the best smartphones, along with the iPhone from Apple. So what HTC smartphones can be better than Desire? There are two answers: HTC Desire HD and HTC Sensation. That last hit today is in our review. HTC claims that this device sets a new benchmark for multimedia smartphones. Is it really so? Is Sensation better than the other two major players: iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S II? Let's find out!

OS

HTC Sensation smartphone is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the addition of custom user interface "Sense", like the Galaxy S II by Samsung, which in its turn received TouchWiz 4.0 interface in addition to the operating system. Apple's iPhone runs on proprietary operating systems from iOS 4.3. It is difficult to determine the leader in this area; in fact, a comparison could look like this: Android vs. iOS. But a comparison of operating systems is not in our current plans, so it is left to decide the right users.

Touchscreen

In this part HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S II are the same again: both models feature 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. But their designers used different technologies to produce them: HTC used the S-LCD and Samsung used Super AMOLED Plus display with high brightness. iPhone display, though has a smaller display, but has a higher pixel density. The resolution of 3.5-inch display is 960 x 640 pixels and technology used to produce it was Retina Display.

Memory

Sensation has received only one gigabyte of internal memory (4 for Vodafone), but equipped with a slot for MicroSD memory cards. iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S II are sold in two versions: with 16 and 32 gigabytes of internal memory, however Galaxy S II supports external storage and Apple's users have to use only built-in memory.

As for RAM iPhone is clearly losing out to its competition. It has a total of 512 MB of RAM, while HTC Sensation has - 768 MB, while Samsung features warping - 1 GB. Samsung Galaxy S II clearly wins the hardware part of the competition, but let's go on.

Camera

5-megapixel iPhone camera looks quite modest compared with the 8-megapixel HTC Sensation and Galaxy S II cameras. HTC and Samsung smartphones can shoot 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) videos while iPhone can only manage 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) videos. All three phones feature geotagging, are equipped with LED flash and front camera for video chating.

CPU

HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S II work on 1.2-gigahertz dual-coreprocessors, and at this point the iPhone with its 1 GHz single chip is not as fast. However, there is a suspicion that Apple did not use all the features of the chip to conserve battery power. At this point, HTC Sensation doesn't disappoint us because it has both impressive design and a fast dual-core processor.

Connectivity

All three smartphones support 3G/HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth A2DP. The only differences between them are versions of Bluetooth: HTC and Samsung feature Bluetooth 3.0, but smartphone from Apple has Bluetooth 2.1. All models have HDMI output; Sensation and Galaxy S II are equipped with MicroUSB ports but iPhone uses 32-pin special connector.

Dimensions and weight

iPhone 4 is the smallest of them, its dimensions are 115 x 59 millimeters. Dimensions of Samsung Galaxy S II are 125 x 66 millimeters, and HTC Sensation: 126 x 65 millimeters. Samsung weighs 119 grams, iPhone 4 weighs 137 grams and HTC Sensation weighs 148 grams. It turned out that the smallest phone will not necessarily be the lightest.

Battery

Unfortunately, for all the benefits of smartphones we have to pay the price of battery life. iPhone 4 can run for 420 minutes of talk time or 300 hours in standby mode on a fully charged battery. Samsung Galaxy S II will provide 540 minutes of talk time and 576 hours in standby mode and HTC Sensation features 400 minutes of talk time and 576 hours in standby mode.

Results

In fact, two Android-smartphone is not too different, but the device from Samsung is lighter, it has a brighter screen, more capacious battery and more RAM and internal memory. As for the iPhone 4 - Again, the choice is difficult to make because of different operating systems here at Apple can play a more established image.
